First dinner party in our new house!

Last night, we hosted our first dinner party in our new house.  It was fabulous!  We were celebrating the recent marriage of our good friends, Lindsey & Will Oldham, so we broke out one of our favorite recipes!

19 weeks pregnant!

Chris seared ahi tuna steaks and served them with a ginger and shiitake mushroom cream sauce.  The sauce is to die for, so we served it with fresh mashed potatoes to soak up any extra sauce.  Here is a link to the recipe, on Epicurious.com.  Britteny and Chris Schaal brought all the ingredients for bananas foster and cooked it up after dinner.  I have 3 words for bananas foster; rich, decadent, divine.

The food was delicious, but it was our close friends that made the night so fun.  We love to cook and entertain, so really, last night was our perfect night!  Our puppies always enjoy the company as well and it’s fun to watch our friends dote on them!!  Soon, our friends will be doting over Baby Weigand.  The very thought of close friends bonding with our baby makes me smile.  🙂

I’m now almost 20 weeks along, which is the infamous half-way point.  Pregnancy is sheer fun right now!  I can no longer button my pants and a stranger can tell I’m preggers.  I have felt the baby’s first kicks and each day, I feel a couple more punches.  The kicks and punches are pretty faint, so I’m looking forward to the day when Chris can feel our baby kick.  He always goes to bed with his hand resting on my belly, so it’s only a matter of days now! 🙂

I’m going to end with a shout out to my dear Grandma!  Happy Birthday Grandma!!  We are counting down the days until we come and visit you in Portland! Only 30 more days!!! 🙂  Love you!!

Early Mothers Day

Mother's Day Card from Chris & the puppies
Chris is out of town this weekend, but will be joining my Mom and I on Sunday afternoon, when he gets back in town. Knowing he wouldn’t be around for Mother’s Day morning, I received my Mom’s day card 2 days early.

First of all, I’ve never gotten a Mother’s day card, so this was very unexpected! It’s too cute! On the front is a picture of cute little red-headed girl on the potty. When you open the card, it sings the song, don’t you know that you’re some kind of wonderful. The text says, “Years after potty training, you still know how to handle all the crap.” It’s signed, “Happy Mother’s Day Mommy! Love, Ollie, Bailey & Daddy!”

The best part is that  a gift card for a one hour massage at Lifetime fell out of the card! Chris gets major brownie points for this one!!

Regarding the potty training, Ollie is 98% potty trained with maybe one accident a month. Bailey on the other hand, is taking her sweet time learning to tell me that she has to go out. She’s about 75% potty trained. Due to this, I’m spending this afternoon at flooring companies. We are getting wood floors installed within the month if we can find a product we like! YEAHHHHHHHHH!

I hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day and feel as appreciated as my hubby made me feel! 😉

Miss Bailey Bear

Miss Bailey is our newest addition to our family! She was born on January 5th, 2010 and has a Maltese mother and a Toy Poodle father. Our little maltipoo was only 1.42 lbs when I first picked her up. She should grow to be about 5lbs, the same size as current puppy, Ollie.

Why the new addition?! Ollie is almost a year old now and is still very playful. We hate leaving her home alone, so the most logical answer seemed to be a new playmate. 😉 Ollie was wary at first, but they are now best buds. Together, they nap in my lap and are constantly playing and harassing each other. Bailey hasn’t met a stranger yet and is excited about any human or dog she comes across!

Why a malitpoo? Poodles are known for being smart, easy to potty train, and they don’t shed! Maltese dogs are known to be lively, intelligent and very loving. I read many times that maltipoos are very good pets for autistic children. Since Chris and I will be starting a family in the near future, we wanted a spirited but intelligent and gentle dog. Miss Bailey has been the perfect fit for us. I can’t wait for all of you to meet her!!

Looking for a puppy

Our pride and joy, Miss Ollie

I’m looking for a playmate for our puppy Ollie. She is about to turn one and Chris and I have decided to make this a priority. It just kills me to leave her at home when we both have to put in long work hours. We are looking for a puppy, and would ideally be able to purchase a female, long-haired chihuahua. If you know of any breeders, please let us know! We would also consider other breeds, as long as they are under 15 lbs, full-grown.
