Carter turns 6 months!

The last three weeks have been pretty trying for the three of us.  As soon as Carter went into daycare, he got sick and we had to keep him home.  After three weeks of sickness, he is finally feeling better.   We took him to his doctor for his 6-month check up and she said he had a basic case of daycare-itis.   He likely picked up some type of cold from the other kids.  Although it was a common cold, it has taken him three full weeks to recover.

The doctor went on to tell us that if Carter remained in daycare, he would continue to get sick twice as much as if he were at home.  I knew all of this; I guess I just didn’t realize what a toll it would take on his little body.   I’ve got a girl named Erika that comes to the house to watch Carter on Wednesdays, but other than that, the little munchkin and I now spend our days together.

Our little guy is not so little anymore, weighing in at almost 18 pounds!  He’s still nursing and we are still supplementing with formula.  Just recently, Carter really started to get the hang of eating from a spoon!  I was so excited to be able to cook for him, I spent an entire evening cooking and pureeing organic sweet potatoes, green beans, corn and every fresh fruit we had in the fridge.  Carter now has an array of frozen fruits and veggies but he’s plowing through them rather quickly.

To celebrate the fourth of July, I invited our friends over for a BBQ and put Chris to work on the grill!  He marinated and grilled three racks of ribs that were mouth-watering.  I made a couple of batches of watermelon margaritas, which seemed to really hit the spot.  We had a huge spread with lots of appetizers, sides and dessert!  Carter was dressed to impress in an adorable seersucker outfit from his Mimi, but he managed to spit up and soak it before I could get a picture!

Carter is now wearing 9-12 months clothing.  I’m having to pack away so many cute clothes, sigh.  I just hope all these pureed foods don’t stain and ruin his cute clothes.  Carter’s favorite activity is to blow bubbles when he’s done eating.  I cannot explain what a mess he makes!!

That’s about all for this time!
